It’s time for one of my favorite posts: 5 Things I Love Right Now: November! It makes me super happy to be able to share things with you all that I really, truly love. These are things I’ve been obsessed with and using for at least a month and I’m super excited to share my finds with you.
Also, it’s worth noting that though I may have some affiliate links included (hello, incremental income), all opinions are very much my own.
In this month’s post, you’ll find a natural deodorant — that actually works, my favorite podcasts, an at-home gel nail polish that lasts and doesn’t require a UV lamp, a sports bra so comfortable you’ll forget you’re wearing it, and the worship music playlist I can’t get enough of.
One: Lavanila Deodorant
A natural deodorant. That works. Let me preface this by saying, I can hear your skepticism through the computer. I feel ya— in fact, I was you. In an effort to avoid aluminum, I have tried every natural deodorant on the market. Even ones other people swore by, that I really wanted to work, didn’t work. I wouldn’t even make it partially through the day without feeling like I needed to shower.
Enter: Lavanila. I found out about The Healthy Deodorant after a pretty intense work out when my friend, who didn’t stink, told me about it. I very hesitantly picked it up the next time I was at Sephora (almost got the travel size to trial it) and thought surely if this was any good I would have heard about it by now.
Lo and behold, I’ve been living under a rock. After a makeshift armpit detox (a few swipes of my rose petal witch hazel a few days in a row after showering), I applied Lavanila Pure Vanilla daily and started noticing that I didn’t smell. In fact, after an entire day, if I stuck my nose in my armpit, I just smelled faintly of vanilla.
How. Is. This. Possible. After scouring the ingredients, I still don’t know, but what I do know is that it’s clean and pure and you can reapply as needed. If you work out a ton, I recommend getting their Sport Luxe which in my opinion, is a little stronger, yet still non-toxic and aluminum free. AKA, a miracle.
Two: LSK Worship Playlist
Ever since Lauren (of Lauren Scruggs Kennedy — one of my fave blogs) shared her Worship Music Playlist, I’ve been listening to it steadily. Just about all my favorite worship songs (and some I didn’t know were my favorites) are on there including Elevation’s Do It Again (my jam), Hillsong’s Behold (Then Sings My Soul), Leeland’s Where You Are, and Still by Hillary Scott & The Scott Family.
I find myself putting this playlist on in the morning while I make coffee, while I write, or anytime I feel stuck in my head, in need of encouragement, or overwhelmed. For me, it’s an immediate reminder of God’s grace and His faithfulness.
No matter my situation, when I am singing along, I find myself feeling grateful for all that He’s done and all that He will do. There are 65 songs on the playlist so they won’t get old quick, and you may even find a song or two you didn’t know you loved. Give it a listen here.
Three: Essie Gel Couture Nail Polish
Confession: I wish I was the girl who got her nails done all the time. I’m not. Special occasion? Day of pampering? By all means. On the regular? Not so much. Please see: budgetary constraints. Also slight paranoia about UV lamps and salon cleanliness.
That said, ordinary nail polish, with my routine, doesn’t stand a chance. If it lasts longer than a day, I’m shocked. So, what’s a girl to do? Well, try new things, for one. I was at my fave bae Targét, casually strolling the aisles, not expecting any surprises. Happened to be browsing nail polish colors when Essie’s Gel Couture collection caught my eye. Well, may as well, I thought.
So I got the sheerest pink I could find: #10 Sheer Fantasy and grabbed a #00 Top Coat for good measure. Got home, put on some Gilmore Girls, applied two layers of the pink followed by a layer of the top coat. Dried pretty fast, no lamp needed. Fast forward: one week… a week guys. Not a single chip. Whaaaaa?
Best part? It’s super easy to take off. No crazy foil fingers or patience required, just a few swipes of good ole’ fashioned nail polish remover. I know. One thing to note: the Sheer Fantasy is very sheer (I’m wearing it in these photos) which I love, but if you don’t, they have plenty of pale pinks and other fun colors for you to choose from (and Essie sells directly through Amazon so you can get your Prime on).Four: Podcasts!
I feel like podcasts are all the rage right now, right? I literally have a list of them I’ve been meaning to listen to, but my current go-to’s are Julie Solomon’s The Influencer podcast and Jenna Kutcher’s Goal Digger podcast. Clearly, I’m in girl boss mode.
If you own your own business, have a creative side hustle, or want to learn more about marketing yourself, I highly recommend both of these podcasts. Julie is a New York Time’s best-selling publicist and the queen of branding and pitching. She chats all things influencer marketing, blogging, and social media and gives you inside info directly from the best of the best in the industry.
Jenna Kutcher is a photographer, artist, creative and marketing genius. I’ve only listened to a handful of her podcasts so far, but I always walk away with major mental notes. If you are considering starting a business, or are currently running one, you’re going to want to give Goal Digger a listen. In it, Jenna teaches about strategy, efficiency, and how to turn your goals into plans.
One last note on the subject of podcasts, if you are expecting (and even if you’re not), you’re going to want to listen to the Hello Bump podcast. It’s made by blogger babe Angela Lanter of Hello Gorgeous and her sweet husband Matt. Together they give an honest, relatable, and hilarious account of their first pregnancy journey (seriously, it’ll have you lol’ing).
Five: Lively Active Sports Bra
A few weeks ago, Lively invited me to take a class at Phsyique 57 in Beverly Hills (side note: obsesssssed) and they gave me their new active bra to try. I’ve used it for every work out since. It’s comfortable, supportive, and stays dry (though, I don’t really sweat much). Did I mention it’s SO CUTE?
The one I’m wearing in the photos is their Active Bralette Colorblock in navy/pink. It comes in two other colors (black/navy and navy/mint), and a few different styles including Active, Crossback, High Neck, and Racerback. I honestly love them all, my only complaint is that they don’t make pants to go with it.
If you decide to get it, you can use my code AMB-jennifercallahan at checkout for $10 off your order (will work on any order). But, I’ve also partnered with Lively to give one lucky reader a *FREE* bra. To enter, tag a friend on my latest Instagram post and don’t forget to follow Lively!
Thanks for checking out the 5 things I love right now! What are the five things YOU love right now? Let me know in the comments!
