It’s been the Monday-est Monday, ever, over here. I’m trying to lighten the mood with a current list of my favorite things. That’s right, it’s time for 5 Things I Love Right Now, January Edition.
This list includes a few impulse buys I made while “off-roading” at Target (when I don’t stick to the list), as well as the shampoo and conditioner I swear by (as a bottle blonde whose hair can be so, so dry). Plus a few more of my favorite finds… enjoy!
One: Target Hearth + Hand Table Lamp
I’ve been on the hunt for a cute little desk lamp that could offer my eyes a break when the sun goes down and my apartment gets dark. I found this one at Target, and though I wasn’t entirely sure I wanted to drop $50 on a lamp, I really liked the mod-vibe of it and how well it fit with my decor.
I’m glad I went for it as it’s the reason I can see the keyboard at the present moment, and also because I think the exposed bulb is chic somehow (just don’t look directly at it like I keep doing for no good reason). I like how it arches over my desk and offers the perfect amount of light in the evening. Perhaps you, will, too!
Two: Target Threshold Baking Essentials
Speaking of things at Target too adorable to pass up, I admit with these particular purchases I got a little shop happy. Mostly because they are all for baking and, well, I don’t bake. Yet.
However, who doesn’t need a marble cake stand? At $35, it’s a fraction of the price of most marble cake stands that I’ve seen, and since the Threshold line is kind of my jam, I think it’s the perfect mix of simple and elegant.
The rolling pin I could have probably done without, but it matched the cake stand and at $15, who was I to separate them? Plus, I’m Italian so I should probably figure out how to make my own noodles at some point before they kick me out. The gold measuring cups, at $6, were a no-brainer.
Three: Pureology Hydrate Shampoo + Conditioner
I should preface this by saying, I’m totally jealous of people that can use any shampoo and conditioner and have shiny, silky hair. That’s not me. My hair is naturally curly and dry to begin with, but I also get highlights often which can leave it feeling even more brittle. Since I’m constantly on damage control, I’ve learned to invest in the right products to prevent breakage.
Pureology, specifically their Hydrate line in the purple bottle, is the best shampoo and conditioner I’ve found for my hair. It replenishes the moisture without leaving a residue and makes it a breeze to comb through.
It’s a bit pricey (about $30 each), so I try to get the 33.8 fl oz bottles from Ulta when I can to justify the cost. Though I just found this amazing deal on Groupon for 50% off… so, that’s definitely getting bought by me tonight.
Four: Trader Joe’s Super Seed & Ancient Grain Blend + Organic Flax Oil
Trader Joe’s is my hang, and I get all excited when I notice a new product on the shelves. I’ve been trying to incorporate more heart-healthy omega-3 into my diet, and flax seeds are a great way to do that. The Super Seed & Ancient Grain Blend has a yummy combo of seeds and grain and is perfect for sprinkling on oatmeal or Greek yogurt, giving it a bit of crunch, not to mention, antioxidants and fiber.
As for the Organic Flax Oil, it’s rich in nutrients and a tablespoon a day goes a long way. Adding Flaxseed Oil to your diet has a long list of benefits, from reducing inflammation to contributing to healthy skin and hair. I add it to my diet as a preventative measure against heart disease, which is prevalent on my mom’s side of the family.
Not entirely sure if it’s been conclusively proven to help with this, but I figure it can’t hurt. Plus, it’s easy to add to shakes or salad dressings, just be sure to refrigerate after opening.
Five: Lively Long-Lined Lace Bralette
This is not my first feature for Lively, and it probably won’t be my last. As far as bras go, they just get it right.
In honor of the launch of their Destination Nowhere line, Lively sent me one of their Long-lined Lace Bralettes ($35), and it is stunning. This is the bra you wear when you don’t want to wear a bra, but you want the bra you do wear to be sexy. It’s supportive, bold, and ready to take you wherever the day unfolds. At least that’s the vibe mine gives me.
